Elite Upgrades

OK, so my dad and I booked to TXL on 7/12 (mom and bro on award), and BTW it is nice and empty to/from TXL. My dad is elite, and we are booked on the same itn. What needs to happen so that his upgrade gets processed automatically? Does he need to call in and ask to see if an upgrade is avaliable? 762 upgrade domestic would be really cool (I'll try to take the upgrade from him ). Probably won't happen, but oh well.

There are no EUAs on International Flights... Elite Members only qualify for Complimentary upgrades on flights with domestic first class, e.g. flights within the USA, ex GUM on a 738 and anything into Latin American no listed as "Intl First Class" (They even consider Hawai'l BF)

If you want to upgrade over to TXL you will need to use miles and pay the required fees. If there are any domestic portions to this trip, you will qualify automatically just like any other flight at 5/3/1 day out.

I'm not sure but I think EWR-TXL is on a 752. Are you flying in from IAH to EWR on a 762? If that's the case then your father should be able to get an Elite Upgrade on the domestic portion. First off, you'll have to get all non-elite pax off his itin, in order for the EUA to process. Second, wait and hope. Good luck! ^

Right, if you are refering to that domestic portion, make sure you call the elite line and ask that his reservation be split for EUA. They will know what you are talking about...
