I use it very frequently to change from the window seat EUA gives me to my preferred aisle seat.
In other words, no problems here!

I have no problems with the seat selector either.
A note about EUA - it doesn't care what your preference is. It assigns all the aisle seats first, then once those are full it assigns the window seats. The pattern seems to be pretty reliable.
EDIT: Oops, I didn't realize I was in the Continental forum. The information I posted pertains to Northwest - it may or may not be the same for Continental.

I haven't had any recent problems with the seat selector either.
As far as seating preferences, EAU has always offered my choice (window.) It usually throws me in the back rows of the cabin, so I use seat selector to move closer forward so that I have at least decent odds of getting a meal choice on flights with meals. I prefer window over aisle when traveling in first class and in the last 50 or so EAU's, I've always been offered a window.

Are you trying to select seats within the 30 hour window? Actually, why is there a 30 hour window? DL doesn't appear to have one, as I have done some pretty last minute seat stuff via the web site.
