Continental eases ticket change rules for war
The wording on this summary was a little more straight forward than others I've seen...
HOUSTON, Texas (Reuters) -- Continental Airlines Inc. has become at least the third major U.S. airline in recent days to ease travel rules in advance of a possible war over Iraq.
The No. 5 U.S. carrier, which is based in Houston, said customers may through May 31 without penalty change restricted, nonrefundable tickets for transatlantic travel bought between March 5 and March 31 as late as three days before the scheduled departure date.
The policy applies to flights on Continental aircraft or code share flights run by Virgin Atlantic Airways. Customers may change destinations, travel dates or service class without penalty so long as travel begins by December 31, Continental said.
On Tuesday, Delta Air Lines Inc. announced a similar policy for transatlantic travel on Delta flights.
Earlier, US Airways Group Inc. announced a "Peace of Mind" policy allowing customers to apply, without penalty, an unused ticket's full value to future travel within 90 days of the start of a war or U.S. government issuance of a "Code Red" alert.
