How does this suck? Would you like some cheese with that whine?

You got something for nothing for crying out loud. Do you expect 100% upgrade success? If you want to fly F 100% of the time, show some real loyalty and by the F ticket. Have you EVER purchased a F ticket or do you just complain to the gate agent?

In these times, be thankful that the carriers haven't cut back any further and that you get upgraded when you do.

It sucks not because I didn;t get upgrade when there's no availability, but I didnt get upgraded when there seems to be.. It seems they might be waiting to release seats closer to take off as has been mentioned on other flights..

And it's choice. If they cut back further, switch to another carrier.. If they all cut back, go for the pilot's license :-)

if you want first class buy a first class ticket. even though i am platinum i NEVER expect it. i book an exit row and carry on my own sandwich or salad. i am happy with this arrangement if i get safe reliable transportation. sometimes (usually) i get upgraded. but, as long as i have an exit row with priority boarding i am happy as a clam.

When did ITN.net get bought by American Express? And how did you get to the inventory screen showing the various buckets?
Thx

Huh? No avail=No upgrade. Ok, I understand that.

Yes avail=No upgrade. But the availability you're looking at is for purchasing tickets, not upgrades. The wise revenue management process is trying to make the airline money and keep it flying. After all they are "free domestic upgrades based on availability" and right now, there aren't any seats available in the upgrade bucket.

So, as FCTSTY put it, get a sandwich or a salad, preboard, and enjoy your flight (and please don't tell us how rude the gate agent is for not upgrading you).

As long as the number of take-offs = number of landings you should be happy.
