COMP NW status
My dad, who is currently NW silver, wants to switch over to CO because he usually flies CO more. He also wants to have access to partners like Virgin Atlantic and Copa.
I heared that CO won't comp NW status, but I talked to some guy over at ITYT and he said that NW comped his CO plat. He lives in Guam, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
I would do the suggested, comp to AA then send that AA into CO but he has a flight coming up in less than a week and I think that would take to long.
So I figure I'll give a try. Can someone tell me what I have to send into Continental and where I have to send it?

NWGoldElite,
I don't know if CO will comp NW, but here's a template my friends gave me to request comp status. I hope this helps,
Continental OnePass: XXXXXXX

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to request Platinum Elite Status in Continentals OnePass Program. I am a consultant with XXXXXXX, and as such travel extensively between my home office in Chicago and my client sites (variously in California, New Jersey, and Germany). I am currently Premiere Executive 1K with United Airlines, and have already flown ~100,000 miles this year on United in and out of ORD. Because my job is currently taking me through the Continental hub at Newark (EWR) on a weekly basis, I am considering switching my preferred airline to Continental (primarily because of the fantastic OnePass program features, such as complimentary first-class upgrades). I am attaching a copy of my United Premiere Executive 1K card as well as my year-to-date activity on United (Jan 2002 to July 2002).
I will be on this project in New Jersey for at least the next 8-12 months. Im hoping that my past airline activity as well as the potential future business I can provide Continental will justify my qualification for Platinum Elite Status with Continental OnePass. For your reference, my Continental OnePass number is XXXXXX.
Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Your Name

CO would not give me a COMP until I took my UA statement to a City ticket office showing how many miles I had flown. They base the comp on miles flown with the other carrier, not status with the other carrier.
So, I don't know how valid it would be to get comped on another carrier, then try to take that to CO for a comp. You're not going to have any "miles flown" on that carrier where you were comped.
