CO Consolidators?
I have a family emergency and have to fly from LAX to EWR most likely on a day's notice and return without a Sat stay. The Co compassion fares are still in the thousands. Does anyone know of a consolidator for Co in the LA area? Thanks.

Is there a reason you have to fly CO? If you're stuck, try using Hotwire or Priceline.

Sorry to hear about the emergency.
In this situation it might be cheaper to forego the miles and fly with JetBlue or America West.
Did a quick search on Orbitz, and a fare of $303 came up for this:
America West Airlines 881
Tue, Jan 21 9:40a-12:01p
plane change
Los Angeles (LAX) Phoenix (PHX) 1
America West Airlines 14
Tue, Jan 21 12:47p-7:26p
Phoenix (PHX) New York (JFK)
America West Airlines 54
Tue, Jan 28 10:15a-12:50p
plane change
New York (JFK) Las Vegas (LAS) 1
America West Airlines 110
Tue, Jan 28 1:27p-2:35p
Las Vegas (LAS) Los Angeles (LAX)

If you really want to fly CO (for at least part of the trip) you could try going through Vegas, LAS-EWR is pricing $615 for Jan 21 departure and returning on 1/23. Combine that with a cheapo LAX-LAS fare on HP or WN and you should be able to do the trip for less then $1K
Looks like you can do the LAX-LAS part for $160 which brings the total to $775 RT

Actually, FCTSTY, a consolidator might not be the best bet for LHR Wannabee to find a last-minute airfare deal.

Much of the confusion about airfares comes from the fact that there are completely different systems of airfares for domestic flights within any given country and for international flights.......................................
These domestic USA consolidator deals -- amounting basically to waivers of advance-purchase requirements -- change often, and are structured and marketed to make sure that these tickets are not usable by last-minute business travelers.</font>

Thanks for all of the advice. As it turns out Expedia found me a fare with no Sat night stay through Northwest for less than $500. I just have to make a circle in the midwest with smaller flights (so only carry ons for me)which is worth the tremendous savings for very little additional time.
