On-Line Check-In, EUA and Waitlisting
Now that on-line check-in up to 12 hours before the flight may be available at CO starting February 11 according to USA Today, checking-in before EUA runs at 3 hours is now a viable option for most people.
So, based on our previous speculations at this temple of shared wisdom, it would appear:
1. Checking-in 12 hours prior will not remove one from the EUA run at 3 hours prior to the flight; and
2. Checking-in 12 hours prior will maximize your waitlist priority assuming you did not get EUAed (althought every one else will check-in just as early).
Agree or disagree (yes, we know you do not care, FCTSTY).

Why would it appear that checking in 12 hours prior on-line wouldn't remove you from the 3 hour EUA run?
What happens now if you check-in at the airport 3-1/2 hours early?

From my experience, you still get EUA'd whether or not you have checked in.
I got the chance to check in 5 hours before my flight from EWR-IAH, and got my Coach BP. I went and got some lunch then off to the P-Club.
Forgot to check my upgrade and got on board with someone already in my seat! Turns out later that I was EUA'd at the 3 hour mark. I even got an email on my computer!

It has always been my experience that you will not get EUA'd on your *originating* segment if you check in prior to EUA running, however, EUA will *sometimes* run on connecting segments if you have checked in prior to its run for the connection.
Has anyone been sucessfully EUA'd on their origination when checking in outside of the EUA window?
