EUA not working?
I am flying OAK - IAH - BWI on 12/11. ITN has been showing the flight as A9F9 since the 5 day Plat window but I have yet to be EUA'ed. I call Continental and the agent told me that she doesn't understand why I havent been upgraded but she was not permitted to upgrade me, "it has to be done by the computer," she said. Anyone has any ideas why this happens? Has it ever happened to anyone else?
Thanks |

I faced a similar situation, but at the Gold EUA window last week. The agent told me the same thing about being confused as to why it hadn't run, but that the computer would have to do it. It ended up not running until the night before the flight. I did get the upgrade, as did two plat co-workers. I've seen theories about CO dropping the F availability to 0 just before eua and then raising it back up to 9 just after. This allows mileage upgraders the opportunity to upgrade w/o filling up F five days out.

I'm going YYZ-EWR tonight, and note that ITN shows A4F4, yet no EUA.
Odd... |

EUA works, however a discrepancy between the name on the ticket and the OnePass account, as well as a misalignment of the planets or whatever, can cause problems.

What fares are you all folks flying on?

I was 4 for 4 last week on T and Q fares, AUS-IAH-LAX-IAH-AUS. All were 5 days out except the IAH-LAX segment that was way overbooked and packed; it cleared without incident at the 3 hour window.
Pretty unrelated, but my domestic portion of an International BF reward cleared from coach to first last Thursday evening. I, too, have had experiences were a flight is A9F9 at the plat window and remains A9F9 overnight and I didn't get an upgrade. Who cares, though? Clearly a glitch but the result (getting the upgrade) is unaffected if the upgrade clears at the 5 vs 4 day mark as long as it skips the entire flight and not just you. |
I'm facing the same problem. Wife and I, both gold, (separate PNR's), are traveling BWI/CLE R/T tomorrow (Monday). No EUA even though A9/F9. Two calls to two different agents got same response, computer will have to upgrade you, can't be done manually.
Interesting aside. When I went to CO web site to check upgrade rules, the wording says "within X days." For Plats it says upgrade within 5 days, for Golds, within 3 days, etc. So the rules say CO can upgrade you anytime within the window, not necessarily at the beginning of the window. |

Although, I see what you're getting at.</font> It is not supposed to matter but clearly CO is doing something different from NW. Theories: 1. Revenue management plays with the buckets and pulls and puts F seats so as to affect EUA. Of course, holding F seats until last minute is one thing, but taking it back to just miss EUA is quite a different thing. 2. The EUA algorithm has been changed to consider fare basis although this is not a published policy. 3. The EUA upgrades for certain fares (or all fares) come from a different bucket (than F) which is not visible on ITN. 4. EUA has software bugs. This is the least unlikely given NW uses the same software with no such reports. |

See my post on 7/24 in the middle of the following thread on my report of a conversation with a CO company care representative (named in the post) after this very problem on how I got a manual upgrade. The number is listed there as well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum20/HTML/005706.html If it is a bug, it must be a really nasty one. They have had at least 5 months to fix it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Let's see the witching hour is only 4 hours away I have two reservations on froday that should clear at midnight
