Well, its now Tuesday 12/10 and I have been upgraded on both segmnets (OAK - IAH and IAH BWI). Yesterday I called the "elite" line and asked to be manually upgraded and the CSR told me I was alteady upgraded from OAK to IAH. She said that computer had done the upgrade on Mon am, but the second segment was not available. I then checked ITN and it showed A0F0 for the IAH BWI segment. later that afternoon I checked CO.OL and saw that i was upgraded on the 2nd segment. I never receieved email notification and my question is: Do they run EUA in the middle of the day and how can a flight show A0F0 and then I get an upgrade???

Pardon my ignorance.

As a CO Plat with 120+ segments and 95+% of them up front, I have strangely missed the all segments for last week on an AUS-IAH-DTW (roundtrip) and all segments for this week (but just cleared one of them via the Gold window!).

I definitely think there is something screwy with EUA.

Similar situation for my wife. She's gold and usually has a high EUA rate. Her last flight, AUS-IAH-SEA-LAX-IAH-AUS had no EUA upgrades. Her itin for this week, AUS-IAH-MCO-IAH-AUS has only one, the return IAH-AUS. Each time I've called asking about the 10 or so open FC seats I'm told they are reserved for revenue only.

Just finished two identical BWI-CMH MR's Monday and Tuesday with different EUA results. All flights showed plenty of avalability in the F bucket but no EUA's at my Gold 3-day window.

EUA's for the Monday MR did not run until 3 hours prior to departure or each flight, when email notifications were sent. EUA's for Tuesday flights were done in secret sometime Monday. I found out only by checking my itin on the CO web site Monday evening. No email notifications for these upgrades. Something is screwy.

How new is the policy of CO reservations agents not being allowed to check into complimentary upgrades? In October I called the elite desk to inquire about a confirmation number (because my itinerary only showed the Apollo reservation number), and the guy gave me the number and then said, "wait a moment while I check something..." and then came back and told me that he had processed my upgrade -- without any prompting or requesting on my part!

have now been upgraded on 4/4 segments for sunday. no emails. that's fine with me.

(and, on two of the four upgrades i was given window seats even though my profile says aisle. on one of the two, first class was wide open on a 757.)

gold traveling companion has been upgraded on 2/4 with no emails.

EUA not working for me either.

Flew EWR-SJU and back early this week. Both flights F5A5 up until day of departure. No email no EUA, NOTHING.

FCOTSTY:

Sorry, I'm confused. If your gold companion was upgraded 2/4 without emails, does that mean that you kept that person on your PNR? I'm trying to master this whole -- "separate the PNR so that you can get upgraded at your window and then arrive at the airport early to get your companion on the wait list" thing. Any pointers?

FC_Dave Dec 14, 2002 8:35 am

E-mails have dried up, however if you check your reservation the upgrades aare still apearing within the 5 day windows.

4/4 for a Friday Monday Combination as of Thursday but not a single e-mail

Interesting issue last night on a flight from TPA to IAH had a companion who was Gold, had her listed as a Platinum Companion, Was confirmed as #1 on the W/L.

They annouced FC had checked in full, plane took of (late) with an empty seat in F/C flight crew wouldn't (said they couldn't do anything about it) and said I would have to call the 800 We Care Less line.

Can't make much of an issue about anything on a plane these days so we will see what they say

dthernandez Dec 14, 2002 8:38 am

Brief anecdote about 1-800-we-care-2: I was out in Lisbon having dinner and met this American couple next to us. Turns out they were CO flight attendants (and not a couple...that's a long story.) But we were talking about CO and they said they usually refer to the 800 line as "Please call 1-800-we-care-2 because WE don't."

This can and does happen when people miss their connections after checking in at another city. TPA and any other city with a lot of commuter (Gulfstream) flights would have this happen with some regularity esp. if they're connecting from the carib. FAs are specifically told NOT to do "onboard" upgrades for all the obvious reasons. I have had them refuse an empty FC seat to one of my co-workers (traveling on a FC pass)in the same "checked in full" type of situation.
