AU?

EUA missed me on my upcomming NYC to FL flight. While at the airport today, I explained this fact to a nice agent and he upgraded me. When I check my e-ticket reservation on CO.com, it shows me in FC with my assigned seat, but the class of service is not listed as First (F), but First (AU). Could someone explain this code to me, please?

Y-tix are upgraded into A class instead of F class. Thus, I presume that you must have been flying on a full-Y ticket, or else the agent did the UG incorrectly...

First class seats for EUA come out of "F" class, which is a subset of "A" class. Such upgrades will be shown as "Xy" on your Onepass statement where "y" is replaced by the original fare class of your ticket. For example, if you are on a B fare, you would see, "XB." Elite Y-fare upgrades come from A class and can be manually processed by an agent at the time of booking and will be shown as "AU" on your Onepass statement.

AU just refers to a class of service and ato (airport) entry that can be used to upgrade a passenger. I am assuming that you were not booked in Y, and the long and short of it is, that you got a nice agent who didn't care about the capacity controlled booking class BS, etc. F class is one of CO's capacity controlled first class booking codes. The airport agents have computer entries that can pretty much over-ride any rule, parameter, procedure, term/condition, tariff, obstacle, impediment, or other such thing that could make your travels more difficult and less rewarding. If an airport agent ever tells you first is full say "can you just AU the segment," and if they like you they may just AU it and you will be in first regardless of whether CO yield management wanted you in that seat at that time.

Joey, just to satisfy FCTSTY's love for codes, are you willing to go by "Joey the AU"?

Aparsuites, that is so funny! Joey the Gold is no more. Long live Joey the AU!

And I am glad to see that my once again intentionally vague topic title has snared FCTSTY (I troll for FCTSTY when I am a little bored). I was also poking at dbaker a little; I was betting that this info was on his awsome site and that he would arrive, with shameless hypertext-link plug in hand.

That is dead-spot-on what happened, Jetsetter. Great call.

Did the poster really mean Au or did he pass Chem 101 enhanced with extra credit for his "life experiences".
