Title: Continental Shows Airlines How to Be a Phoenix -- Not a Dodo
You need to register to read the article, but it's free.
It's an interesing article. I never knew Continential was orginally based in Los Angeles, even I have been living here for the last ten years.
One note, people who dislike Gordon might want to skip this one.

All the column tells us is that high costs = bad for business and creative thinking = good. Plus a couple little extra nuggets like the LA thing.
Question: What rules is Levine talking about?
Another question: About the flight attendant who offered free drinks to meal-less business travelers? How did he/she know they were business travelers?
I tend to agree that airlines are going to need to think creatively if they want to survive, however. Which I think is the point of this pleasant, if lightweight, opinion piece.

johnsmith, thank you for being the martyr.
Hmm... CO's carry-on tiff-- the good ol' days pre-911.
The article praises CO's current ops, but they never mention failed efforts like CO Lite.
It is an interesting read, though. Thanks.
