Same day standby
Quick question. I booked a trip EWR-MIA for Nov 26. After checking ITN & calling CO I find the flight I am taking has no F availablity. Its completely sold out in first. A0 D0 F0
A flight leaving 2 hours earlier has plenty of space available in F.
If I show up early and flash the Platinum card. Will I & my traveling companion get charged a change fee for grabbing the earlier flight. The prospects for upgrade on the earlier flight are better.

If you will tell me how you get the capacity to show up on ITN I'll share with you a recent experience about Platinum and standby.

At this time there is NO CHARGE for standing by on an earlier (same day)flight. That charge will be going into effect next year. If seats are available on the earlier flight in BOTH coach and FC you will be cleared onto the flight and given your comp upgrade. As a Platinum your companion would be upgraded at that time also. If coach is sold out you will be put on the standby list for the flight. You would then have to clear into coach before you can be added to the list for first.

Wouldn't those pax scheduled on the earlier flight that Joe wants to go stand by on and on the u/g wait list be cleared first regardless of their status prior to a standby pax?
