Over this Memorial Day weekend, I had a unique experience I thought I'd share. I was waiting for my flight from EWR to PBI. I saw the plane at the gate and expected to have an on-time departure.
The gate attendant announced that we would have a short 15 min delay due to some challenges in "cleaning" the aircraft. Then 15 or so minutes later the big announcement came that we would be moving to a new gate and a new aircraft. He then went on to announce over the PA that the reason was that an individual on the inbound flight had vomitted and the cleaning crew was not able to adequately 'clean it up' without removing the seats and taking other measures.
So our delay turned into an hour and a half. When we were on the new plane, the pilot indicated that the old plane was going to need some extensive cleaning and that the odors on board were just unacceptable.
I wonder if they served that old meatloaf sandwich on that flight! : )
Anyway, CO did a great job under some very challenging circumstances (very heavy travel weekend). Twice I have had to change planes or gates at EWR, and both times it was handled as quickly and professionally as possible.

That certainly sounds like a praiseworthy effort on CO's part.

I was already borded on a NW DTW-AMS flight, when they announced they were going to hold off on boarding coach due to some "cleaning." Ended up taking almost TWO HOURS.
Seems the inbound from AMS had a terminal person who had gone to Africa as a dying wish, and "left bodily fluids" all over a row of seats. Major cleaning/removal of seats was required here too.

Sounds like someone on this inbound flight didn't handle the absence of an elite upgrade too well...
