Downsizing at the PC clubs?
On my last visit to the EWR PC by Gate 120 (a popular meeting place for Flyertalkers before and after September 11th...) was told by the bartenders there that were some downsizing in some of the selections.
The Milanos are not to be found.
Gone are:
*Sam Adams (I was crushed)
*Bass (I know Newself will be bummed out since that's his beer!)
*Tangeray Gin (the choice of Larry U)
But what's left:
*Bud (Major BLEH)
*Bud Light (BLEH)
*I think Coors (haven't tried it)
*Heinikken (marginal)
*Michalope Amber (which Beckles had me try and is not bad.)
Anyone else notice downsizing at other clubs?
Plus... No Sams anymore on the flights.
With Coca Cola and Fosters the only choices left makes me want to write Gordon and ask him to put PEPSI on CO flights!
It took three years but a few letters got UA to switch to the blue can!

You are correct Sir Feline!!!!!!
Same deal at all PClubs.
Bartender in CLE told me CO pulled Sam Adams products firm-wide because Jim Koch (Chairman and Brewmaster of Boston Beer Co.) was in the studio with Oppie and Anthony (syndicated NYC shock DJs) during a contest when a couple had sex @ St. Patrick's Cathedral.
The other changes are, as you suspected, cost-cutting moves.

I was in Boston the week after the radio broadcast and many of the local establishments were refusing to serve Sam Adams due to the fact he was in the studio. They were even going so far as to call their distributors and asking them to pick-up the stock of Sam they had in the bar.
The bar owners association stated they would sell it again if an apology was issued. (or in my opinion when the profits dropped from not having what the customer wanted)
I made it a point to ask for a Sam Adams where ever I went.

That's like StL bars not selling Bud products.

In the still nice HNL P-Club, the Skyy vodva has been downgraded to Smirnoff, The 10-12 year old scotch has disappeared and crappy Dewars replaced it, the Jack Daniels vanished completely, one of the two mega-button drink dispensers has remained un-repaired for over two months etc, but the other dispenser with guava juice still works. Dont ask re the wine brands (read bottom shelf stuff).

To borrow a very over-used, yet appropriate, term from this board:

Is this another reason to consider jointing Priority Pass clubs over PC's?

i think this has been discussed before but does the PC run at a profit/loss from its membership fees?
i am curious if this regular downgrading of PC items is to use these funds for regular operations.

That simply isn't true. FA told me the Sam Adams was being removed and replaced with Foster's in late August, before the stunt happened. Trust me when I tell ya, if that rumor WERE true, you can be sure that CO would've posted a press relese to the fact.

And it is, in fact, a bad decision. Not as bad as the OP switcheroo or the NW stock buyback, but unless they serve it in the oil can, Foster's about as much fun as Old Milwaukee.
