Yep, that is how I found out I was one. No change in service though...

The only change I've noticed is when I check in at the ticket counter. I go through the usual scene where the Ticket agent looks directly at me in line, says "First Class?", looks around me, "FIRST Class?" (are you absolutely sure you're not a lowly coach person trying to get in MY line?)

Then, once through that, she enters my name in the computer and the skepticism is erased with a tentative smile and the use of my name. I keep hoping I'll get a big Homer Simpson "DOH", but not yet :p

Seriously, business travelers do occassionally fly in casual clothing. Stop making assumptions!

At the gate, I'm usually 1/4 down the jetway before the thing beeps and shows them the Co* thing.

I just wish I could fly enough to earn CO Plat and CO* :)

Hey AusEXP - any chance you need another employee to travel with you? ;)

Some business travelers and great CO customers certainly take vacations as well. I expect the same high level of service when wearing jeans or khakis as I do when I am decked out in a suit and tie.

I know most will not believe me, but FAs have not been hiding "the manifest" because of the above mentioned program, let alone flyetalk.com.

Hiding the manifest? LOL surprise surprise... damn us informed consumers who want to know everything...

There's a logo for "Continental Stars" on the President's Club monitor when you check in (they're apparently not supposed to share that detail, and it doesn't seem to get me anywhere anyway (fly coach most of the time IAH-BOS as Plat)).

Any CO*s care to share the type of itins and fare classes that earns them this distinction?

I fly 1 domestic (incl Canada) round trip (restricted, coach) per week, every week, for the last 18mos (and in 2002/2003).

Would love to know what the purpose of identifying "Continental Stars" is. There must be a purpose, but I haven't witnessed a benefit.

I looked at the first class manifest once and saw a CO * next to my name. I asked the FA what it meant, and she replied in a great Texas drawl, "We're supposed to be extra-special-nice to y'all!" I asked her how I got the star, and she replied with a wink, "You make us lots of money. And we like that."

But you're still flying Continental. Thus, you're a co*

One night as I sprinted to make my 757-300 connection IAH to AUS I sat in my middle bulkhead coach seat. Somehow the topic of CO* came up with the flight attendant as boarding was wrapping up.

Another passenger asked "so what are CO stars?"

Flight attendant: "They are the people that actually bought the airplane we're flying on

The President's Club attendent told me that "they're responsible for 20% of the revenue", but something tells me she might be misquoting something.... maybe the old 80/20 rule someone was talking about.
