excess continental miles
I've got 7500 miles i won't be able to increase. Any suggestions on how to get them to AA or NWA? Is Hilton a viable exchange vehicle?

For that few miles, it's pretty wasteful: 5000 miles = 10000 hilton points == 2000 AA miles... and 5000 is the best increment you're going to get. But if they're going to waste anyways...

transferring them into Hilton (to stay)represents a better value than a Hilton pass-thru...
15,000 HH points can get you a night at a decent property, or maybe two at a point-stretcher... much more valuable than the ~2,000 AA miles that you'll wind up with.
