Interesting
Any comments from the UA board?
So I was reading
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum21/HTML/005433.html
and I was thinking...YEAH, why in the world should I accept anything less then the very best service available despite the fact that I bought and paid for the cheapest ticket available.
I was thinking about how I sometimes buy a fully refundable ticket so I can accompany people to the gate through security, then get the ticket refunded after I've seen my friend off.
So today, before passing through ORD, I bought a full fare first class ticket to Tokyo. It 'cost' $12,309.03. Then I enjoyed the amenities of the International First Class lounge and all the perks that go with holding an international first class ticket.
Then I got on my flight to Austin and called UA to cancel and refund my NRT ticket.
Worked like a charm.

Sure sir, why don't you come with us into this nice room with the Federal Agents over here, they've got a few questions for you...
let's see, you're holding (2) tickets for flights out of this airport... your bags are on one flight and you just purchased a ticket in the front of the plane for another...
get comfortable, this is going to be a while... and their version of comfort is nothing like the International First Class lounge...

I wouldn't have posted this over here except for the fact that there are 2 pages of more or less support from UA folks. Must be fairly common.
