Meaning of numner next to availability code in ITN

Could somebody explain what does the "9"( for example 9Y, 9K,etc.) next to a class code means? Thanks

That there are at least 9 seats available in that fare class--and possibly lots more. Where it becomes important is in the FC upgrade arena, where F0 means no seats have been released and/or are available for upgrades, but a F9 means at least 9 are available--so your upgrade chance is that much better.

Thanks. Does any of these codes represent seats available for reward travel( rather than upgrade)?

Supposedly, E represents BF reward seats, and for some reason, some flighs have been showing E inventory on ITN for the past couple of months, with no apparent pattern in which flights show E and which don't. The only pattern is that of those that show E, most are E0

E are definitely domestic FC reward seats, not sure about BF. And there is definitely no apparent pattern to E inventory showing up on ITN -- of the 4 daily EWR-MSY flights, 2 used to show E, 2 didn't. Now none do.

so...to answer Cruiseluv's question....only reward First Class seats are displayed...not coach. There seems to be no pattern as to their display either.

Domestic reward tickets are taken from M class (not dispayed on ITN) Elites, however, are given reward tickets from other fare class inventory. As a OnePass Platinum I've been given tickets out of V class after not being able to use the same mileage for a reward from my wife's (non-elite) account.
