I am reaching 900,000 unused miles. You have to work very hard to efficiently use the miles.
There also has been mileage “creep” over the years. The number of miles for an award keep creeping up. Just looking at an old OnePass award chart:
TWO ROUNDTRIP FIRST CLASS TICKETS (The international first class was real first class)
Within US & Canada - 75,000
Between Hawaii & US - 100,000
Mainland US & Europe or South America – 140,000
Mainland US & South Pacific – 170,000
TWO ROUNDTRIP BUSINESS CLASS TICKETS
Between Hawaii & US - 90,000
Mainland US & Europe or South America – 100,000
Mainland US & South Pacific – 150,000
TWO ROUNDTRIP COACH CLASS TICKETS
Within US & Canada - 50,000
Between Hawaii & US - 80,000
Mainland US & Europe or South America – 80,000
Mainland US & South Pacific – 115,000
TWO ROUNDTRIP COACH CLASS TICKETS (Mileage Saver of Off-peak)
Within US & Canada - 35,000
Between Hawaii & US - 45,000
Mainland US & Europe or South America – 55,000
Mainland US & South Pacific – 75,000
