upgraded status, EUA when thru on-time...
I was very curious and I know that many other here were as well; what happens when you book your itinerary as say a Gold Elite and then you become Platinum.
Of course, you'd think the easy answer is that you'd get upgraded with the Platinums... but things are never usually that straighforward.
I am pleased to say that my EUA went thru at the Platinum window, not Gold.
Somewhat peculiar, all week ITN showed A4 F4, this morning it is still A4 F4. Is that normal?

I posted on this issue in my "Help! Change In Elite Status" thread. Thanks to those of you who replied. I since spoke with another Elite rep. who accessed the 12 pending itineraries I made when I was Silver (I'm Gold now). She informed me that they all still showed Silver, including my flight next Monday (the Gold EUA window will thus open after midnight TONIGHT). Se then very patiently and pleasantly re-entered my One Pass number for each seperate itinerary which resulted in my Gold status being recognized.
I am glad you didn't have to do this, but based on my experience, you may be taking a risk unless you confirm with OnePaSS that your status has been upgraded for that specific itinerary prior to the EUA window for your level.

I called last night at about 1am CST (the EUA processing time-zone), my reservation showed as Platinum, so I guess that's why it went thru OK...

I hope you didn't have to stay up until after 1AM CST just to do this. That sounds like the bad old days before EUA.

Then there are those who like to hurl meaningless, non-sequitur insults-- completely unprovoked-- for their own personal amusement.

OK, but back to the matter at hand for a second, you appeared to have knowledge of the A to F conversion...
I have used the "search" function but there was too much garbage to go thru as the terms "covert" "A" and "F" appeared too many times... and there was no topic with "A to F conversion" I could find...
so how does this happen, I would have figured that an EUA would decrease the seat count, but it didn't appear to have any effect at all... then again, I am not an "ITN master"... sounds like something out of sci-fi

i don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but i have:
depending on the markets, i've seen CO max out FC availability at 4 rather than 9. it could've been that there were 5 seats available, but res was only showing 4. so taking one seat for an EUA still left 4....

On a Northwest trip last month, I called to see what CO status level was on my reservation. As expected, they had me listed as only a Silver, which was my level when I purchased the ticket. The CSR re-entered my OnePass number, and sure enough, now the reservation showed me as Gold.
On the other hand, I flew on a CO itinerary this week that I had also purchased when I was a Silver, and I was upgraded at the Gold upgrade window.

duxfan,
I've seen this too. Most recently on my holiday itinerary. I don't claim to understand it, but if you see a flight with 4's and 7's for availability you can be reasonably sure it's one of these "4" flights.
F maxes out at 4 so it's quite possible that although A/D/F all show 4 the cabin could be empty. Never fear!

On some routes CO has a hardblock agreement with another carrier who owns those seats, and CO cannot sell a hardblock seat.

just an example off the top of my head... AMS to TPA on KLM via EWR. Are you saying that maybe some of the EWR/TPA FC seats would be "held" for lack of a better term for KLM? do I understand this properly?
