worth every penny... just wait for the first time when your flight is cancelled/delayed and you've got 4 hours to kill...

at that point you'll be watching football on a big screen TV, sitting in a leather chair drinking a beer... you'll say to yourself, this trip alone was worth the $$$...

I've found quite the opposite to be true - at least at ORD. Every time my flight has been delayed/cancelled due to weather or something similar - I amble over to the PC, and find it to be STANDING room only. Most of the beverages are GONE - and people are fighting over whatever's left.

I personally don't think that the PC is worth the money (and I fly about 6 legs / year) - but I'll keep using the free coupons whenever they send them to me.

the ORD P-Club is very new and nice, but still a bit small for the city it serves, coupled with the fact that it is a "co-branded" CO & NW club...

I have in fact seen the same thing that you have at ORD... last time I was there I was going back to EWR and the CLE flight was delayed... it was jam-packed and SRO...

the original post had actually asked about getting to EWR early and using the P-Clubs... I have NEVER seen SRO in the EWR P-Clubs, the only ones that has a shot are Terminal A and that one near the 106-108 gates of Terminal C.

If you are an AMEX cardholder you can try to get an AMEX Platinum card. Problem is that you have to be invited by AMEX.

For $300 Annual Fee you get all the perks of an AMEX platinum AND P-Club and NW WorldClub Access.

Granted you can only get into PClub/World Club lounges not any affiliated lounges and it's only on the day of travel with a CO/NW ticket, but it is a less expensive way to tryout the club.

Isn't the Platinum card application available on the web for anyone?

I would be very suprised if they denied someone with good credit who wanted to pay $300. If you have good history with AMEX I'd say it's an almost guaranteed approval. Am I wrong on this?

You're spot on, pointman. Amex Platinum used to be "by invitation only," but this changed 2 or so years ago. Now, it's open for anyone to apply. And, I believe that the qualifications are: a) ability to qualify for a regular green Amex card, and b) willingness to pay the $300 annual fee.
