KLM-CO Codeshare

Looks like codesharing won't start until Jan. 15, 2002 (of course, everythin is subject to government approval).

That was an informative link. Will non-codeshares operated by KLM (KLM flight numbers on KLM metal) count for elite status?

I flew from AMS to Hamburg last week on KLM. The flight posted to my One Pass account but not the elite bonus ( web site says elites also get the bonus miles for KL flights effective 12/1 ). I called the One Pass service center and they could not explain, saying they'll look into it.

Right, according to the published materials, you should get status miles and elite bonuses for KLM flight "systemwide". How this applies to the various KLM subsidiaries I don't know, but you should get status miles for a KLM operated, KLM coded flight.

About subsidiaries, it says quite clealy in the information on the onepass news release that KLM uk, KLM exel and KLM cityhopper ARE included. However, the question is do KLM codeshares on OTHER airlines (except NW obviously) count for credit and elite miles. Is the KLM program going to be similar to the one with NW when "as long as it has a KL on the flight number in the ticket" even if it's, for example, EuroWings metal, you will get credit.

To me that's the bigger issue, is the agreement similar to the the NW agreement OR is it just KL flight numbers on KL metal including KL subsidiaries and obviously KL/NW and not KL codeshares on non-KL metal.

This is important because if you get a KL flight number on a NW metal plane does that count? Or do have to make sure you still get a NW flight number AND NW metal or that NW flight number on KL metal for credit.

This would be simple if CO just said ALL KL flights, regardless of what metal it is count for credit and elite. Cause that's a big difference from all KL flight numbers on JUST KL metal or all KL flight number on just KL/NW metal.

Hopefully someone here or someone via the OPSC can clarify.

With the double miles promotion for all KLM flights for the first 3 months of '02, I can't get a definate answer from One Pass to this question: If I fly to AMS on a ticket with KL flight numbers but it's actually a Northwest flight ( code share ), will I get double miles to my One Pass account?

I had the same question in my mind but concluded that the answer will be no. The conditions for the double miles used the term operated by KL or... which has always meant "metal".

After one more call to the One Pass service center and after checking with a supervisor, I was told that as long as I'm flying on a KL ticketed flight even though it's a code share with NW, I'd get the double mileage under the promotion for the first 3 months of '02. ( I had them note in my account that information with the persons name ).

I sure hope I will get elite credit and the duoble miles promo. As I have booked 4 runs to Europe...all KL numbers but on NW planes. On a previous conersation with OnePass I was told "so long as the flight number is KL" it should be ok. I'll keep my fingers crossed. If I'm wrong I'll really be upset at myself for assuming.
