Upgrades on NW

Okay, stupid quetion time.

Someone who happens to like me (Dad) "gave" me for X-mas a neat 50.000 miles for me to use.

Even from the BA forum I can hear you all howling because of the HoKeY "enhancment".

Any similar retrictions on NW? CO in Paris can't come with a better answer than "buy your NW ticket first, then we'll see if you can upgrade with miles"...

If you are asking about upgrading to WBC on a transatlantic trip, NWA will only let you do that on a Y or B fare.
