this not codeshare/hardblock thing is interesting. Does it mean CO handles this as it would be an "own" flight on CO metal? I'm asking because this makes a difference for me as a KLM-customer with the new partnership...

Yes. On a "hardblock" one airline BUYS a set amount of seats on each particular flight number and re-sells them with their own flight number. If the seats go unsold, the buying airline still has to pay for them, and the selling airline is not allowed to sell them. This may also answer a lot of flyers questions about "there's an empty seat, why can't I have it?"
By the way....speaking of empty seats....I recently flew EWR/HKG/EWR. On the return, there were about 20 nonrevs standing by. The plane left with about 80 open seats, but only 3 nonrevs made it, due to weight restrictions. F/A said that is typical for HKG/EWR - - they haula LOT of cargo, and can't sell all the seats.
