There are some machines near the ticket counter that allow you to check bags. The bag tags print out behind the counter, and there is a dedicated agent there to take your bags and put the tags on.

There are also machines in several locations in the gate area, and sometimes there's one in the Presidents Club. These obviously do not offer bag checking ability. Plus, depending on the situation of the security checkpoint, they may not let you get to the gate area without a boarding pass.

To activate the machine, the easiest thing to use is the credit card used to purchase the ticket. Then, it confirms your flight and seat, asking you to confirm or request a seat change. Then, it asks you how many bags to have to check, and then asks the two security questions that otherwise would be asked by the check-in agent. It then prints out the boarding pass, and gives you an option to print out a ticket receipt.

emmett_s, why are you asking? Concerned about security?
