Agreed. Silver will pretty much be worthless in the air. The only perk will be preferred seating and a shorter wait at the counter.

IMHO, Platinum will be diluted some, but only by people who would ahve made Golds otherwise: for an otherwise-Silver to make Plat would take 25,000 flown miles within 45 days-- that's pretty intense flying! And from 0 to platinum, 37,500 flown in 45 days is unthinkable.
I pity the people who work hard all year to make Silver, only to now compete for an upgrade with every Trans-Pacific passenger a day before departure. Frankly, I'm glad I was headed for a higher tier before Sept. 11.</font>

I flew CO almost exclusively for the express purpose of getting the (increasingly marginal) benefit of Silver Elite status and do hope that people who flew one round-trip on CO this year won't be occupying a space I could have up front next year.

If my business flying had been like it was the last two years I would've made Gold easily by the end of year.
Since September I've been on zero flights, due to my company and my client's companies cutting back on travel.
I'm flying again for business the next two weeks. The double elite miles will definately 'make up' for the flights I would've normally gone on in Sept/Oct.
So yes, I'll be making Gold because of the double miles. I would've made Gold if travel had been at normal levels as the last couple of years. In the end it all equals out.
Isn't that what this is all about? People who would've made status if not for the events of 9/11 will now get the status they would've gotten because of double elite miles.
It's for reasons like these I still consider CO the best airline out there.

I had made Platinum again just prior to the double promotion--and I still have a bunch of trips both domestic & international to do. So in my case it wouldn't have made any difference

As a related thought, imagine the queues in the FC check in line in NRT/HKG when 2/3 of the passengers are Silver Elite!!

Qualified for Plat. back in May.
Who thinks the cutbacks in flights, and therefore F seat availability, will have a greater impact than double elite miles? Are the cutbacks proportional to the reduced passenger loads?

I am trying to become part of Plat inflation. Ask CO for a comp to Plat for 2002. Will see what happens. Hope to see you all on a CO plane soon.

If it isn't one of those, I would expect the answer might be "sir, are you taking advantage of our double-elite-miles promotion, running through November 15?"

Okay, I think I fully understand your first sentence but then Ima confused. Does the "AA" stand for American Airlines, Alcoholics Anonymous, American Artists, ex-prisoner or whatever, etc?
And then does the "EXP" stand for expired, extra-precious, express or whatever, etc.
And what do they stand for by combining the two words in the listed order (or backwards order).

Mam, I'm ready for my enhancement.
Sir? Why are you bending over?
So, dallasflyer, what brings you to CO from the AA fortress stronghold? Just curious... But then I guess for someone such as yourself with such good-looks, a sharp wit, and dashing personality, the choice is obvious.
As for getting HoKeY fares, umm, just ask for an upgradeable fare? Or check the class code of the fare when looking at fares online?
