Waitlist to Upgrade Using Miles
I was put on a waitlist to use my miles to upgrade myself and companion - EWR-SFO on 5/25-29. Any thoughts on when/if seats might be released? I believe they are both 738s, 3 seats taken outbound and 4 on the return.
Thanks.
Thanks.

make sure they put you on P1 at the airport versus P2 (which is what they put the elites into).
PS: I think that it is P1,P2,P3 can anyone confirm this?

I believe that is correct, but I usually double check at the PC or checkin counter that you are on the top of the waitlist. Mileage upgrades always take priority over EUA's. You may want to call a few days before and make sure it's noted in your PNR as well.

I had a similar waitlist setup since January for a trip from IAH-SFO for this weekend and had been checking for the last week with CO to see if it had cleared. Sadly the the Elite desk informed me today that it was sold out completely and I should deposit my miles back into my account.
Looking at the current avails, it just appears that IAH-SFO or EWR-SFO will be very tough to upgrade - either EUA or with miles.

Don't trust the waitlist to be consulted in any automatic fashion. Keep calling every day until the upgrade clears. If the 5-day EUA window arrives, and you weren't upgraded before then, then you probably will not get the upgrade.
