Cutting flights out of the system
does anyone have a rez for a trip in the not-so-distant future that has had a segment cancelled?
This has happened to me twice already, my flight from EWR-MIA is being removed from CO's schedule as well as another (can't recall it right now).
I hear that CO is reducing flights to some destinations - just curious if anyone else has been affected by this and what routes they were.
FWIW a CO agent actually (gasp) *called* me to tell me this! However, the bad news is that they "automatically" rebooked me for a flight at another time which did not work into my itinerary - it would have LEFT before I ARRIVED at that city!

It's normal for there to be changes in the schedules in the early fall. CO is usually pretty accomodating in allowing you to choose your new flights under these circumstances. If you aren't happy with the options a refund without penalty is an option.

Flights are removed and added all the time. Look at an OAG for examples. This is one very nice reason to have a valid telephone number in the reservation or your in profile. If requested, they will refund you money. If firmly requested, they often will re-book you on another carrier without cost for the changed segments. And yes you get the original ff miles. I have found most major airlines have exactly the same policy (or at least had the same policy).

I remember them being reliable about calling to notify me about these things as early as the mid-80s.

I booked two round-trips for August and September back in March. Since then both my itineraries have changed multiple times. Flight numbers, airplane types, and flight times have all changed significantly. I haven't received any calls notifying me - I just check the schedules every few weeks then call them when I see a change.
Due to the slowing economy the changes seem to be much more frequent and drastic this year compared to other years. I would imagine my record for each of these flights is multiple pages now with all the changes!

bikenski,
yes, that's what I was referring to - I think CO made some sort of press release about canning a bunch of flights throughout their system due to the economic conditions.
everyone else, I do realize that schedules are subject to change and this happens often. You take the good, you take the bad....
anywho, I find it annoying that each time CO has "automatically" rearranged my itinerary to accomodate me on other flight #s, they screw up the reservation to the point of me not being able to get to my destination. So far, each time, they've put me on an alternate flight which leaves before I even get to that airport.
At one point they expected me to leave EWR for SAN at 5pm when I was going to be on RDU-EWR leaving RDU at 5pm!
