"Missing" a segment on full-fare: Will CO bite me for this?

I'm interested in traveling EWR-CO-NRT-NW-MNL or EWR-CO-HKG-PR/CX-MNL in December on full-fare. However, if book the ticket with MNL-CI-KHH the next day after arriving in MNL, the price will be $800 lower.

Who do you people think? Will I be bitten by CO by "missing" the segment? I'm a NW ff, not a CO OP ff, BTW.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you talking about beyond-point ticketing?

The fare basis is DXTW, EWR-KHH. The routing is by maximum permitted mileage (mpm). The flight to Manila arrives in the evening, and the flight that I'll "miss" departs to KHH the next next in the morning. I think this is technically throw-away ticketing?

If you miss the last segment on a one way ticket, the airline shouldn't come after you--- and CI will proibably forget about it if you never show up-- hey, you could have re-routed into KHH for all they know.

2 difficulties are luggage and customs/immigration. If you have an overnight "connection" in MNL, make sure to claim your bags at customs.... they may be tagged to KHH, and I don't know if you could explain to the EWR check-in agent that you want to claim them in MNL.

As far as immigration, it may cause big trouble to leave MNL if you enter on a transit visa and stay there. Does the Phillipines require you present a return ticket when you enter?? I guess you could show your one-way return (from MNL) and never say anything about your remaining flight to KHH.

Thanks. I guess CO won't run after me then.
Immigration/customs is no issue, because I don't need a visa for visits of up to a year (in my case).

Now, I'm just concerned of the luggage tagging issue. In the past when I've traveled on NWA with "overnight" connections, the computer automatically tagged my luggages to the destination where I was staying overnight, contrary to what NW reservation agents had told me.

It should be fine, just be sure to make it very clear you only want your luggage checked to MNL when you check in -- and look at the tags. I did GLA-AMS-DTW-MSP a couple of months ago with an overnight in DTW, and while the computer wanted to send everything to MSP, the agent was able to enter the baggage routing terminating in DTW manually. If the UK/CO agent at GLA was able to figure out how to do this (in 15 minutes), surely at EWR it shouldn't be a problem...

(While I might have figured that I would have to claim my bags at DTW immigration regardless, I was told that my bags would most likely be put on the first flight AMS-MSP!)
