You can always read in the flight magazines about the CELEBIRTY CHEFS, who whip all those Gourmet dishes just for your flight!!
Makes you wish, that they were going to serve you several courses of the innovative foods like in the good ol days.
They have gotten especially creative with the 'cold plate' or salad with chicken. Whereas in the past it was a full hot meal.

a little off-topic, but this thread is making me hungry!
Call me crazy but I actually like that one coach meal w/the lasagna w/chicken on top.
you know, its served in a tiny little package that's smaller than a sardine can, but that's often better than some stuff I get in F.
As for F meals, I really like the pasta bowl w/chicken. (Can you see a pattern here?)

Ya know, on my SEA-IAH flight I was never offered seconds on the breads. IAH-SEA I was.
MCO-IAH I got the cold plate. This time it was the one with the cold cuts instead of the shrimp one I had on the way out. IAH-SEA was choice of two dinners. I opted for the shrimp/jambalaya. It wasn't as good as I remembered, and I wished I had chosen the chicken/mashed potatoes.

The chicken was good, but i always hate trying to pick everyting off the bones and trying to be neat...especially with a stranger 2 feet away. It's not like I'm at a picnic or something with lots of elbow room!

The only thing I can say about Joan Rivers is that she helped create the DISRESPECT with her sarcastic gossipy 'lack' of humor, We are seeing the disrespect she doesn't like everywhere! TOO BAD! Time for her to take responsibility and change her chatter to a more constructive one from the standpoint of a civil society. From her recent appearances, I would say her time and place has gone!
Now she can enjoy the fruits of her labors! Be it in 1st class or at a public restaurant.
Also, for a real laugh, make her travel in the last two rows (government class) of coach!

It always amazes me how negative stories get published. Maybe it's just the sensationalism that sells.

It's hard to find many positive things about modern air travel for the journalist to write about, isn't it?

I understand everyone's frustration with airline meal service, or the lack thereof. I have experienced it myself, and came to the conclusion that I just have to look after myself when it comes to food while traveling. I have had food ranging from wonderful to inedible, in both the front and back of the plane. I've also seen pax not get meals because the airline miscounted the number of pax on board, or some food item didn't get loaded on before the flight. And they always seem to run out of spring water...!
So I always carry a small plastic container with snacks (cheese, crackers, fruit, candy etc.) and a bottle of water in my carry-on bag. Advantages: it's food selected by me, so I'm fairly certain I'll like it, and fairly certain of its freshness; I can eat it when I want to, not when the airline deems it's time to eat; and even if I do eat the airline food, I have some backup in case of emergency (like being stuck on the runway for 4 hours at O'Hare, which happened to me once). My carry-on food won't be hot, but "hot" doesn't guarantee "edible."
The plastic container also ends up being useful for keeping leftovers etc. in the hotel room.
I no longer worry about airplane meals...I've just placed it far down on my priority list.

I have always wanted to get on the plane with a large Numberuno pizza with everything and share it with the crew!
Perhaps and auction for each piece would help cover the costs. Back in coach, several piazzas in different flavors would be a good investment!

Joan Rivers--a judge of etiquette??? I don't think so.
So the reason why first class has gone down hill is because business people are being upgraded? So her logic follows that if one pays for first class as opposed to being upgraded, that one automatically is bred to have better manners and decorum. So money = proper behavior according to the comedienne with a filthy mouth. That woman lives in a fantasy world inhabited by herself (and her cronies) alone.
What lunatic decided it would be proper to interview her for that article?
