Flight Refund

I may not be able to make a mileage run I planned to Tokyo and won't be able to go again within the next 6-8 months. The ticket I purchased was upgradable, but nonrefundable (z class). I do not want to have the ticket reissued for a later date. My companion also has an ankle injury and may not be able to go. Is there any way to get a refund?

First of all, are you certain your ticket isn't one of the Asia series tickets that was refundable minus $100? Maybe things are very different this time of year but all of my HKG tickets (don't start, MisterNice...) were refundable with only a $100 penalty. I don't remember if my NRT tickets were the same-- prehaps not...

Failing that, you can credit that ticket to any flight to Asia (with some exceptions) of an equal or higher fare for the next year (and possibly longer if when the time comes you ask them to extend it.)

Other than those two scenarios, I'm no expert on medical-related refunds so someone else will have to advise. Good luck and speedy recovery.
