IAH,
Just remember that I was not being completely sarcastic in saying "... when EUA says you are upgraded."
I am Platinum, and I have in some instances not been EUA'd until the morning of my flight...
So although the rules say that I am *eligible* to receive a complimentary upgrade 5 days prior to the departure date, that does not mean that yield management is obligated to suspend their MO in order to get me into a seat that they show a high probability of making some money on if they hold out for a few days more to see if any buyers come through.
In other words, the upgrade window is a guideline - it may come later than the 3 days (or however many) - or not at all.
