CDG - IAH help

Please forgive my ignorance, very new here. My wife(Silver elite) and I are cruising FLL - Barcelona and flying back from Paris. Used points for coach flight. I know that we cannot upgrade the seats but we have the points and I wondered if there might be a chance if we had the certs in hand and checked in very early? Worst case would be the $35 each for the redeposit right?

ITN shows 5 Z available in the flight.

Thanks!!

I can't help you with your question, but are you onboard the Celebrity Millennium departing April 27th from FLL to Barcelona? Or are you on another repositioning transatlantic cruise? If the former, say hi to my good friends who will be on it!

I would say it is very, very unlikely. Notwithstanding the availability of 'Z' class seats, there is a no-upgrade within three days of the flight rule that CO is pretty serious about, and day of flight is, well, you see what I'm getting at. Add in the fact that you're on a reward ticket to begin with and I would say your chances are basically nil.

That having been said, "it never hurts to ask." But the next obstacle is, as far as I know, CO will not send you a certificate simply 'cause you'd like to have one handy-- they do most upgrades electronically at this point anyway.

If you have a certificate handy, bring it, but it is very, very unlikely you will have the opportunity to use it. Enjoy your trip! -jp

This is utterly and completely incorrect.
