Continental in Edinburgh
I heard a rumour that COntinental is going to start service to/from Edinburgh sometime in the future.
Does anyone know if there's any truth in this?
We MEED a direct flight to the US from Scotland's capital city!

Actually, with the nonstop service to Glasgow, you can hop a train to Edinburgh and be there within three hours of landing at GLA. I doubt this, though, because Edinburgh is mostly touristy while Glasgow is the business/commercial side of Scotland. At least this is what I felt having spend some time in each city.

Edinburgh's quite commercial too!!
Just about every scottish financial institution has their headquarters in Edinburgh not to mention the Scottish Parliament, the Scottih Office etc etc.
Wouldn't dream of trying GLA to EDI by public transport again.....done it once....nightmare......
Can take 2 hours by car too if you want to get to GLA for the Continental to Newark. Have to go through TWO rush hours and accross the most congested road bridge in Europe! Then of course there's the M8 grass cutting in Summer but that's another bulletin board altogether ;-)
It's only a hour shuttle from London to Edinburgh but the point is we need a direct flight to the US from Edinburgh.
Nothing more infuriating than getting the 6:40am shuttle to LHR and then flying back north over Scotland 3 hours later on your way to the US!!!

Our friend from Tampa is incorrect (no offence) Glasgow's commercial image is in the past.
The porblem we have is not any airline but teh airport. Both EDI and GLA are owned by the same people who have chosen to have GLA as the transatlantic airport.

I thought the BAA was trying to shore up GLA as Scotland's lone transatlantic gateway -- esp. as BA and NW have given up on GLA direct services to the US, wouldn't the BAA be unlikely to favor splitting what little service there is between EDI and GLA?
