Upgrade % since EUA (CO Gold)

FYI, here's my success rate on upgrades since EUA began. I use the cheapest coach fares.

I figure I'm batting .733 post-EUA.

Number of flights: 15
Upgrades via EUA: 9
Upgrades via waitlist: 2
Total upgrades: 11

By leg:
CLE-BWI 1/1
BWI-CLE 0/1
CLE-IAH 1/3
IAH-CLE 3/3
IAH-SAN 2/3
SAN-IAH 4/4

I guesstimate I was getting upgraded about 90% of the time as a Gold pre-EUA. I haven't been flying quite as much post-EUA.

I'm at 100%+ as a Platinum. The plus is because I was upgraded once on a coach award ticket.

Are you intending to limit this to Gold Elite members?

Out of 16 upgradable segments (the rest were ATR's or ERJ's or America West which I'm excluding since it is n't part of the EUA) Ive been upgraded 12 times or 75%

Spouse is Silver and her upgradeable segment rate is 7 out of 14 or 50%

No, I didn't mean to imply that only Golds should contribute. In fact, I would like to hear from any Elites on the subject.

I don't know if it has to do with EUA or not, but I have recently missed upgrades on flights that I have previously had 100% success for years. I am aware of several instances where I have been passed over when "F" inventory has been available. These cases, however, are moot since I eventually did get upgraded on those flights anyway. This year, my success rate with CO is a paltry 58% as an Infinite Platinum. On the other hand, my success rate has been 100% on US and 93% on UA. Can you guess who did not get my vote for the Freddies?

28 out of 28 here, as a Plat flying out of IAH on all discount fares. 1 was on a last minute change, when my original flight had NOT been upgraded, so EUA for me really only 27/28.

1 of my 2 for this coming week already upgraded, but return from PDX is not looking good, so may be 28/30.

I'm 100% on CO as a Platinum this year, although I haven't taken too many CO flights so far. I just got EUA'd this morning for both segmrnts of my trip to the CMDIII, including the elusive IAH-EWR Friday afternoon flight!

On America's Worst I've done 9/10, including 3/4 companion upgrades on our trip to Puerto Vallarta. The one trip in coach was the long, 109 mile TUS-PHX segment on the 7:00 AM after the 6:00 flight was cancelled.

I've been 9/10 since EUA as a Gold. The one that I missed was because I tried to standby on an earlier flight 1 hr prior to departure (MIA-IAH)....I really should've been 10/10.

I mainly fly intra-Texas, but occasionally fly to EWR, LAS, BWI, CLE...all of those segments have been upgraded for me, thanks to careful plotting using ITN.

I'm perfect out of 73 flights, since Jan. Not all had first, so rather than go count... I guess I'm 60 for 60. HOWEVER, I have been "skipped" when seats are available 4 times. I have to actively "manage" the upgrades. I had to call those 4 times. Once had to switch departure airports... Cigarman DOES NOT fly coach (if FC is available!)Since, inception last year it's something like 160/160.

Opps! sorry to burst the bubble, but I'm 100%for 100 as a Platinum. Including the ever popular International upgrades. CO has been great to me and I don't know if that is the usual treatment or because I am Platinum. I know there are many, many OP bashers out there, especially on the international routes, but I seem to have lucked out even on my cheapest (but upgradable) fares!

As a Gold, post EUA, 0 for 3 on EWR-LAX. Got LAX-HNL-GUM-CNS round trip upgrades with miles. On LAX-EWR-HKG, got the mileage upgrade going out, failed to get either segment, even with miles, on the return.

Well, it's starting to become very plain that CO doesn't intend on upgrading me very much any more! (I was 6 for 6 prior to EUA.)As someone else said, it looks like CO is becoming increasingly divided into two groups of flyers...Platinums and non-Platinums. CO seems to be much more interested today in the 75K miles a year flyer who buys full-fare tickets.

And, since I'm beginning to accept the fact that, with my travel patterns, I'm just not going to be upgraded that often...either by EUA or miles. So, if I'm going to be relegated to Clampett Class, I might as well get a 35 inch pitch seat (very important for my 6'1" 220 lb. frame), a better (albeit marginally) meal, and an airline with a decent route system and partnership alliance.

CO's BizFirst is the finest BizClass seat going...it blows away the competition! And the bonuses lately have been awesome! Yet, all those miles don't do much good if you can't use them! And the superiority of BizFirst means nothing from a 31" pitch seat in the back!

Out of seventy or so flights on CO and NW under EAU, I can only recall one flight that I didn't make FC.

Revenue management pulled a new one on me for this weeks' travel however. My outbound hop to Houston was upgraded at five days (cheap ticket, trying to avoid TWA/American).

My flight from IAH to LAX showed 6A/D seats 0F. Nothing new there. Three days ago that had dwindled to 2F/D, 0F. As of Noon CST, it was still the same, and I had not been upgraded. OK how early to get to the airport?

Last nite, at 9:00 CST ITN showed 0A, 0D, 0F.

This morning I received my e-mail from EAU confirming the upgrade. Where in the world did those seats disappear to?

I thought that some of the people on this board might appreciate this time line.

Best Regards

As a silver, I'm seeing about 50% EUA and 25-30% standby upgrade on the remaining flights.

Hi,

As a 'discount fare' Platinum I'm 100% EUA for CO flights on CO metal. Not all of the EUAs came thru right at the new Plat upgrade window of 5 days. Some, mostly DFW-IAH and back, didn't happen till 2-3 days out.

Interestingly, I had one flight on an CO ticket/itinerary that was booked as CO codeshare on NW metal. This flight didn't get the EUA but I was upgraded standby at the gate (1st class left about half full). Then I had a NW ticket which was 4 segments of NW codeshare flights on CO metal. EUA upgraded all 4 of these even tho they were booked on the NW website (NW's fare was cheaper than CO's).

I'm OP Silver and have been flying NWA metal for several weeks trying to bump my segment count into the Plat levels. I recently booked CLE-IAH-MCI-MSP-DTW-CLE on nwa.com with the first 2 flights being CO metal on NWA codeshares. I got an EUA on IAH-MCI and called reservations 24 hours in advance to ensure I got elite seating on CLE-IAH. I was confirmed in 5F but when I got my boarding passes from NWA, was seated in 28D. CO couldn't do anything and chastised me for not being checked in 1 1/2 hours early. I told them that's rediculous when I call in advance to block the seat; I checked in 1 hour prior to departure, and still couldn't get any satisfaction.

On the return leg, I was EUA upgraded by NWA using my OnePass account on the MCI-MSP leg, and was able to get standby on MSP-DTW on a very full DC10-40J. The DTW-CLE was an SF3 so "it's all first class".

Overall though I'm batting 50-70% by managing the upgrades; I don't depend on EUA and call CO at 12:05am the day of the flight to get upgraded. If that doesn't work, I get on the standby list at the airport when I check in.

I had a flight a couple weeks ago CID-MSP-CLE where the gate agent put me on standby and said, "Let's see if we can get you moved up a bit..." and typed something into the computer and then was surprised that it put me first on the standby list. I thought that was pretty cool, but when I checked in in MSP, the gate agent there told me she asked me who placed me on the list, res or the agent in CID. I told her the agent and she typed away and told me I was now #12 on the list for 2 seats that hadn't checked in yet. I said "Thanks" and she responded with "I don't know that the hell they were thinking in Cedar Rapids." I wasn't disgruntled at the 3 Plats who got the seats that flight, but was a little put off by her attitude, especially in light of the fact that I was very friendly with her, even as she bumped me from #1 to #12 on a flight that was 2-hours delayed and full. *shrug*
