How much to fly BF to Europe...here's some sample fares
I am posting what I paid to to fly to Europe in BF by paying for a coach ticket and then using miles to upgrade just as a frame of reference for those looking to do the same. Prices are person, round trip and were confirmed at least three weeks before we flew.
I hope y'all find this helpful.
Peace and free headphones!

Nov 00 ewr-cgd $749
Dec 00 ewr-fco $588
Feb 00 ewr-mad $562

jophnpace, is there any way you could post the fare codes (B,V, etc) that were associated with your fare examples - they would be of great value! Thanks.

johnpace, how many miles did the upgrades cost- 40K per roundtrip?
I'm looking at the Rewards charts for North America to Europe and the only one that looks suitable for what you posted would be the "One-Way AllPass Upgrade*+" at 20K per pop. Is this the case?

John;
Me and you are very much "on the same page" i.e. I am a mileage junky as much as the next guy, but I think 40K for a RT BF upgrade is "money" very well spent indeed. And, with all the GG bonus' right now (including 6000 miles per international segment Hilton bonus) you can still "make" miles on such a trip while travelling in ultimate (or near ultimate) comfort. More importantly, those Elite qualifying miles add up without the long-haul dread.
I love your signature-- citing one BF perk at a time..."peace love and fully adjustable footrests!" Just a request.
Anywho, I thought I'd add two recent examples of a nice BF fare using UF6W upgrade.
EWR-FCO R/T $830 12/00
EWR-LIS/MAD-EWR $569 2/01
EWR-MAN R/T $817 3/01

Johnpace, I agree with you wholeheartedly! I always use my miles with 'an upgradable' fare, and have been 100% successful.
2/01 EWR-LGW $484
3/01 EWR-ZRH $606
5/01 EWR-FCO $1007 (not within the '30 day' window yet, but Z seating looks good). Also, I didn't mind the high fare, as I was using a 1,000 credit from NW --good on CO, where I would forfit any unused portion)
