The BIG CIGARMAN/CONTINENTAL DO WITH LARRY KELLNER (CEO) DATE ANNOUNCED; SIGN UP!

Okay, no fooling...
It's the first weekend in April. Larry will meet us on April 2nd.

1) Are you planning on attending the Tour (of CO/Airport TBA) and meeting Larry on the second?
2) Do you have any interest in the big dinner saturday night?
3) Any interest in a function Friday night?

*** Jan 24th update***
The top CO brass besides Larry Kellner (CEO) will probably attend! Look for President Jeff Smisek and many others

January 25 update

Randy Peterson HAS AGREED TO COME. Come out and meet him!

CO HAS AGREED TO A 5% DISCOUNT ON TICKETS!

• Discounts -
• 10% off A, D, F, J, C, Y, H and K fares
• 5% off all other published fares
• An additional 5% discount applies for tickets issued 60 days or more before the travel date subject to above classes of service

BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW FOR THE EXTRA 5% DISCOUNT!!! Tickets must be bought by January 30th for the 60 day extra discount.

You are all set up.

Your Meeting Bid is VZ4164.

Your meeting participants may call our MeetingWorks Desk at 1-800-468-7022 anytime between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM daily to make their reservations. That code is all they need to get the discount.

They will be allowed a 5% discount off any fare applicable to their itinerary. A 10% discount will apply if anyone should happen to buy any of the full coach or first class unrestricted fares.

The file has been documented with approval to waive the change penalty and reissue any tickets that were purchased prior to these arrangements being completed. I have also advised Cassie Edwards who is on the Support Staff at our MeetingWorks Desk of these arrangements in the event there are any misunderstandings.
The information is now complete in our system and the reservation process may begin immediately.

Manager, Group & Meeting Pricing

******** FULL EQM's via phone purchases with meetingworks (by special arrangement!)******

I cut a deal today for us to get FULL EQM's when buying via phone as instructed above. Please do not buy online and ask for the refund. That was designed to help out flyer Talkers who already bought tickets. Not as a method to try for full EQM's. We do not want to continue to cause CO extra work. You will recieve an manual adjustment after the event for the full EQM's. The people on the phone will not know this. Again, this is a "special" one time deal for us. Please buy via the method CO asked.

**** Jan 30th update****

For everyone who has already booked I am building the attendee list, and will post who is on which planes in a master, so we can all get together en route, and when you land. I need alot of help.

Could I possibly ask a few questions for my list?
1) did you book via meetingworks?
2) Real Name? AND flyerTalk name?
3) One Pass account number?
4) One pass Status?
5) Day and Flight arriving (flight Number and departure city)
6) Day and flight leaving?

Please EMAIL it to me. Thanks. CIGAR

**** FEB 2 update******

Starwood Lurker COMING!

READ THIS FIRST! FOR ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ON THE LIST AND HAVE BOUGHT AN AIRLINE TICKET, OR ARE LOCAL...EITHER YOU HAVEN'T EMAILED ME THE INFO I NEED (HINT HINT), OR YOU BOUGHT TODAY AND I HAVENT UPDATED YET. OR... (i messed up and forgot you! Remind me via email). REMEMBER I NEED YOUR NAME,FT NAME, STATUS and ONE PASS NUMBER FROM EVERYONE, PLUS THE FLIGHT DETAILS ON THOSE FLYING IN!!!

I understand not being able to book flights yet, due to an uncertain travel schedule. I just am not adding people to the confirmed list until they book. Don't worry I'll have space for everyone! I just can't assume that all 150+ people who say they will come, will actually attend. And I need good counts for my room size dinners etc. Just email me when you have all the info. Cigar

**** FEB 10 UPDATE****

The hotel info appears on another thread so it won't get lost. PLEASE POST RESPONSES THERE. I simply posted it here for continuity for a new reader.

Okay, The long awaited hotel info. The big four were contacted and the Airport Hyatt and Marriott have agreed to give us certain blocks of rooms at remarkably low prices. Before you book your hotel you should know some more about the tenitive schedule.

Friday Night. Big Party at Marriott see below (and other thread)

HOWEVER, CONTINENTAL IS HOSTING (READ PAYING) FOR SATURDAY NIGHTS DINNER!!!!!

That is super generous of them, and I think another first for an FT "event". I am going to TRY and cover friday's costs myself, perhaps with help from CO. I want everybody to be able to attend. Doesn't mean I'll be successful. I might have to have a cash bar, or charge $10 a head or something. But that is my current plan. So anyway, give some thought to how you'd feel about a rocking friday function. I'd love your imput.

As for Saturday. Depending on the size of the crowd, I may have two tours or stagger the tours. My current plan is lunch then tour say 1pm. If I have to add a second tour it would probably be tour then lunch. As for the tour here is a quote as to what CO is looking at per Mark Bergsrud

Tours: We are exploring tours of maintenance hangars, the new Terminal E and FIS facility and possible our catering company -- Chelsea (but I don't know if I can stomach the airline food jokes). We cannot get access to the simulators due to scheduling and cost issues.

I know there may be several other parts of the airport. But we are negotiating things. Then at like 3:30-5pm Larry will give a presentation and answer questions... Then the big dinner (on CO's nickel). And we are trying to avoid a "rubber chicken dinner" (Larry's words).

Everything should be in the airport area, or I should have a bus if we go elsewhere. So please support our two partner hotels. And there is no advantage of one over the other. I will get you guys to where you need to be. I for example am going to stay at the Hyatt (diamond member).

PLEASE post below when you book a room, so we know how many rooms I have left. I have LIMITED numbers (SEE BELOW).

If they are sold out of the room rate, let me know and I'll see if we can get more rooms.
Here is an example of how to post (ON OTHER THREAD)

CIGARMAN- HYATT FRI 1 SAT 1 (one being number of reserved room, not people in the room)

If you are only staying SAT (poor you) it would be HYATT FRI 0 SAT 1

And of course... if you are at the Marriott... same thing. MARRIOTT FRI 1 SAT 1

Please support our event hotels, however if you stay anywhere else please post those hotel names I only can work transportation from the event hotels. Now the long awaited info...

*** UPDATE FEB 22nd****
We have a great band for friday made up of CO emloyees!

Blackie and The Bullets....here is a short bio....

Blackie and The Bullets formed in 1994. Three of the
current members played together in the late 60's and early
70's in a group known as "The Sound Investment". The
group was one of the top bands in the Houston area at that
time. Recording for Laurie Records out of New York, the
group had two number one hits, including "Don't Stop The
Carnival", and "Come Back Baby" (written by local artist
Mickey Newbury). They opened for Janis Joplin at the
Music Hall in Houston and for the Beach Boys at the Sam
Houston Coliseum. That concert also included Buffalo
Springfield and The Strawberry Alarm Clock. They also
opened for The Who in San Antonio at the Municipal
Auditorium, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, The Grass
Roots, and The McCoys.

A few years ago, the band reformed for their high school
reunion. They had such a blast, they decided to get back to
doing what they do best, making good music and, above
all, having fun doing it.

Thanks!

Thanks for doing this.. Questions:

1. Is this just for us or us + a guest... or does it not matter?
2. Any negotiated airfare or hotel discounts?
3. Any details on the meeting with Larry? How long? Format? etc.

And most importantly....
4. You won't say "April Fools" when we get there??

I am interested but cannot confirm until maybe in March.. so put me down for a maybe...

1) of course you can bring a guest; and if they bring a good enough Cigar they can have a less than restricted view seat!
2) YES, you can probably expect to Cigar post some discounts of one sort or another... stay tuned.
3) Larry will meet us for about an hour and a half for sure. Perhaps, if our response is good enough I can rope him into dinner saturday night. I expect many others from CO (big wheels, regular folks) to attend different events.
4) Nope it's for real. If you are in doubt email Randy Peterson and ask him. Heck call Janet in his office (I love you Janet... really!) and ask her. The phone number is on the bottom of this web site or webflyer.
