Call for Calm

This is a call for calm.

I think we are close losing control of civility here on thr Continental Forum.

How about we leave the personal attacks and name calling to the politicans.

For the vast majority of posts here in the Continental Forum we've avoided the kind of personal attacks that seem to occur fairly frequently in other parts of FlyerTalk.

Since the earliest days of FlyerTalk I've thought that not only was Continental the Best Airline, but that the Continental Forum was the best on Flyertalk.

This may sound, and it might even be, elitist, but I think we have some of the classiest and most intelligent folks here. Not to mention even tempered and sane.

I've met many of you, and have several friendship with people here.

Lets try and keep this on a civil level, by eliminating personal attacks.

The whole EUA debate, especially the Less Filling vs. Taste Great lead up was very hot and heavy. In fact it's well known that the 2 camps vigoriously disagreed with each other. This disagreement was done at the Intellectual level not the personal level. Yes, some good natured sarcastic wit entered into play, but it was clear said in jest.

So if you don't like someone, or what they are posting, I'd hope that you would either ignore them or take to private email.

Thanks,
Boomer

Another wholehearted endorsement!

Let's please show respect for ALL FT'ers even if we don't show it for all carriers!

BB Rage - ouch! Overall, Flyertalk is an excellent way to express ones opinion without fear. But civility is cheap.

Until yesterday afternoon, that is what I thought we were doing all along.

I'll try to show a stronger back than some, and just let the comments bounce off.

I'll happly keep the exchange civil, as I always have.

I fully support the call for calm. I have really enjoyed FT and the boards in my limited exposure compared with many of you. I hope calm prevails and the spirit of FT continues in its open but civil forum.

Hey- Talk about misappropriating my idea!

Let's put credit where credit is due! ME!!!!
I first came up with this idea of civility on the CO board, and now Boomer misappropriates my idea and gets credit for it??? How wrong is that!

This message is a joke, of course....

VERY OMNI: Not so likely in NY this year!

"But as the race for Senate between Mrs. Clinton and Rick A. Lazio spiraled through its final weekend yesterday, the contest had devolved into what even aides to both candidates acknowledged was a surprisingly constricted confrontation, directed at small segments of the state's voters, mainly Jews, focusing on peripheral disputes more than urgent issues, and becoming more acrid in tone with each press release, news conference and commercial.

Any promise of a sober discussion of tax plans, education or the role the United States should play in world affairs all issues that the candidates had at least tipped their hats to over the last two months gave way in the final hours to squabbling about Palestinian terrorists and campaign contributions, and attacks on each other's character. Each side even accused the other, with some justification, of trying to exploit the fatal attack on the destroyer Cole for gain in this campaign."

AND: The WSJ tomorrow will bear an article featuring many FT'ers on CO and the new autoupgrade phenomena! Perhaps CO should have went with their press release last Friday!
