Simmer Down Now!!!!
What's with all this hostility about the EUA's, particularly to other FTers? Come on! It's only upgrades here. I flew 25 years before riding in first class, and I can do it again. I won't be thrilled about it, but seriously, there are way more important things to get this worked up over. I know I'm going to get trashed over the "It's only upgrades" comment, but this isn't worth this petty back-biting and name calling that has been going on internally on this board.
Might I suggest a solution for which I'm certain to be angrily mocked by some furious people?
Fly NWA. NWA has had autoupgrades available for NWA ELites for some time now. Yet, I, as a CO silver, am batting 95% on NWA upgrades.
I don't think this is the end of the world. And I think anyone who does should spend more money on mental health care than on mileage runs.

I agree- particularly with the first paragraph! I do't know about the rest though!

I liked the last sentence.

Actually, I have to strongly agree that NW seems to have more upgrade seats available. I fly out of SFO mostly, occassionally OAK or SJC. I notice that NW jets regularly have open seats after take off in first. I have never been denied an upgrade on NW (although for the record I am CO Platinum).
I think its been over a year since I've even seen one empty first class seat in flight on CO.

Thank you BoSoxFan... I think this is getting a bit out of hand... As posted in another thread, I'm a NW Gold, Silver for most of the year and had great luck w upgrades thus far on both NW & CO. My opinion to all the CO elites is wait till the end of the year and see what the months under the new system does for you. If it doesnt work, then switch. NW had the auto-up for it's Plat and Gold elites at the beginning of the year and just started it for Silver. As a Silver/recent Gold I'm 100% for upgrades this year...

Thanks for the post, BoSoxFan45! As one of the posters who was lambasted because I disagreed, politely I thought, with another's views on the EUAs, I appreciate this call for civility! Let's keep the discussion to the issue and what can be done to improve a siutation that some consider unfair.

I agree that we need to stay civil.
One of the things I appreciate is that for the most part this discussion has been civil.
Jeff and I have been debating this since the year 1 it seems, and almost all of the post have been civil.
I agree fully with Bosoxfan45's comment that this is just about miles.
Whenever we get together, my friend Doc always reminds me that I once posted on a web site called flyertalk:
"This isn't world peace we are talking about, it's just airline miles"
