CO Express Jet at CLE

My buddy who is a Captain with CO express just called me to say " every one of our flights cancelled in and out of CLE today due to the company running out of De-icing fluid" I told him BS!!!! noway could they run an operation that bad.

So I looked up a number of flights in and out of CLE today from various places and sure enough all cancelled. The WX is fine in fact its almost clear in CLE tonight. Yesterday he called me to say they loaded the wrong bags in IAH. His flight was going to gulf port and not MEM. The rampers in IAH loaded MEM bags (good thing they caught that one) Then the plane next gate over sat 90 minutes waiting for someone to flag them into the gate. Only after the CAPT begged with operations on the frq that the APU was about to run out of fuel did they get someone to guide the RJ in. NOW I remember why I no longer fly CO Express.

I heard a news report yesterday saying the same thing happened to DL in CVG. The record snowfall apparently prevented shipments of de-icing fluid from being delivered.

True

CLE did run out of glycol.

On 12/23 the FAA showed CLE has having a CAL ground stop........

Two years ago a company wanted to build drive/taxi-through de-icing hangers that would use special lamps to melt the snow/ice on the planes. Apparently it would have been quicker than the current method.

The company wanted to use CLE as the beta site and was going to build the hangers for free.

The administration of Mayor White turned them down. Apparently it would have put some people out of work (at one of CLE's biggest political patronage locations).
