Elite Seating on NW - Solved

This "feud" between NW and CO about not giving each other's elites preferred seating has only one casualty - us, the FF.

Nonetheless, this crafty flier has found that if you book directly on the NW site, and use their handy seat map tool, you can select elite seats.

Anyone else have any other methods of resolving this "quirk?" I HIGHLY suggest that those of you impacted by this also write a letter to CO to complain about this situation.

Carberry:

NW has a great seat selector feature in it's website, it shows all the elite seats that are available with little stars, however unless things have changed since I used it last it won't accept chosen seats from OnePass elites.

I booked a NW flight on the site, entered my OnePass number, chose seats in the elite section, but was assigned seats in the back of the bus. It is possible that things have changed, I was able to have exit row seats assigned by a World Club agent, so I won't risk loosing my assigned seats by trying again.

The following is atopic I posted on the subject on the NW Forum:

Just curious, Carberry, do you actually show confirmed elite seat assignments on NW AFTER
the transaction? I tried the same technique on the NW website, but found that, although the seat pinpointer accepted my request for elite seating, when I got the confirmation, I was booted toward the back of the plane!!

I sincerely hope your technique works, but suggest you bring up your itinerary to see if you STILL have the seats you desired.

I recently booked the following flights on NW through the NW website:

SNA-IAH-DTW-CRW
CRW-ROA-DTW-IAH-SNA

I found out that 3 of the segments were codeshares with CO, so I called the OnePass Silver Elite line and was given "elite seating" on the CO flights. I was even given a CO RPN and told to check in at the CO ticket counter at SNA.

Now when the time comes for the flights, I plan to get up at midnight and call OnePass Elite to see about upgrades. And as JawsII has mentioned, if I don't get them at midnight then I will call them again before I leave from home and again at the airport.
