Virgin codeshare to JBurg?

I need to fly to Johannesburg South Africa. I can fly Air France, KLM or Virgin Atlantic. I assume that I have to buy a codeshare ticket through CO to get elite qualifying mileage, correct?

Do I get miles for EWR to LHR only OR do I get miles for EWR to JNB?

Thanks!

Let us know if you find a CO codeshare LHR-JNB, as all I have found are actual VS flts, which get you OP miles, but no EQMs.

I flew KLM JNB to AMS with EQM's and bonus miles posted after I sent in boarding passes. I think this will be the only way it will work for you.

What isn't clear is LHR to JNB

BigBoofer: Thanks! Does AirFrance also require sending in the boarding passes? That kind of $ucks for Skyteam. At least with Delta, AF is seemless. I did have trouble with NW and KLM for some reason.

A. Continental does not codeshare on VS flights beyond LHR.

B. As UpgradeMe noted in the link above is that you earn CO NonePass full mileage on all VS coded flights systemwide, no matter if they carry a CO codeshare or not. You earn EQM only on CO coded VS flights which means - no EQM on the LHR - JNB flight.

In order to maximize qualifying miles, I will take Air France (which I love) from CVG to CDG to JNB. I will reserve VS for a flight to LHR.
