Priority Handling Tags

Although I try and avoid checking luggage, when I have to, I notice that the Priority Handling Tag does little to no good. I FREQUENTLY see other bags come out ahead of Priority Bags. Even things like strollers and Golf Clubs. Anyone else with similar experiences

My experience is that priority luggage handling varies greatly at each CO station. In CLE and MIA I have had great success in getting my bags first (I check bags infrequently - - avoid it like the plague!)

Regarding seeing strollers and golf bags come out first, often the airline will handle large or bulky items that don't fit on the belt with special care, usually first.

My experience is that the Priority handling tags work most of the time.

The more CO service at an airport the better they seem to work. Perhaps because the staff is more accustomed to seeing them.

The priority bag tags have worked well for me. Most of the time the bags are within the first few off the plane. I won't complain if every once in a while they are not first, because it seems most of the time they are right on the money.

I agree with the above comments...the tags work great for me! I also try to avoid checking baggage; however, sometimes one has no choice (week long vacations).

I guess I need to start traveling with you. As I said, I rarely check, but the 3 times I have, PHX, PHL and EWR, no luck

I nearly always check bags, and mine are nearly always among the first to come off the plane when flying CO. (Occasionally, they're not.) It's one of my favorite things about the airline.

Contrast that with UA, which places orange "priority" tags on your bags when you're flying up front. I have never had a "priority" bag come off a UA flight anywhere among the first bags off the plane. Makes me wonder why they bother with the special tags.

I have found that the bag tags never work at stations serviced by America West Airlines, especially Phoenix. My best experience with the tags was in Narita. Gathered around the carousel, with everyone else from the 777, my bags were the second and third to come off the belt. Thank you, Continental and ANA (who handles ground service at Narita).

I have realized that "Priority Handling" does not mean "careful handling" of your luggage. Saw it with my own eyes how Continental luggage handlers almost appear to intentionally test my bags' resistance to strain (despite elite tags). But I guess this is an industry standard...

The tags worked great on a flight this weekend to CVG. Also, on a flight last week, one of my bags came out first, but the Priority tag was ripped off. I called the One Pass Service Center, explained the situation to them and they sent me two new ones within 4 days. I think that is pretty good customer service.

Something interesting:

I have never been able to use my elite priority tags yet on CO.

This past Friday I flew UA SFO-EWR and forgot to take off my CO tags. Anyway, (it might have been by chance) my bag was one of the first ones off.

Transworld,

Interestingly enough, The few times I have check my bags, it has been through America West hubs (PHilly, Phoenix, etc), although I did wait quite a bit once at Newark. However the AP think may have been the problem. Thanks!
