Continental Does It Right Again
Was on a flight today from Newark to Boston. The MD 80 was packed. I had been upgraded to First and we were just about to leave. There was a young man sitting in seat 1B. The flight attendent stopped at his seat and said to him, "are you a flight attendent". He said "yes". She said, "you will have to sit in the back, so I can upgrade a passenger". "Since the flight is full you can change seats with him." After a minute a man from row 18 shows up, gets the seat in first, says thanks and wears a big smile. I have seen other airlines like UAL, upgrade employees and leave those of us who pay in the back. Bye the way, there were several Pilots and other crews who sat in coach too. Way to go Continental!!!!

CO policy is that Elite's get upgraded before non-revenue passangers.
As Gordon was quoted earlier this week saying.
"We love our customers"
It shows.

I, too, on many occasions have experienced this fine service attitude on Continental. Certainly, above and beyond all expectations!!!

Excellent track record for CO here... contrast that with UA refusing to upgrade PremExs to F on the pretext that "the integrity of the F class product must be preserved." Then you discover the F cabin is full of deadheading UA people and even FAs working this very flight who have staked out the comfy chairs for themselves. They're not preserving the integrity of F, they're preserving their own personal sleep suite.
I like CO.

This kind of thing is why I fly CO even though I live in a UA hub.
I have received that level of service on CO on numerous occasions. The folks at UA barely made a pretense that they valued my business.

I agree that CO has come a long since the "peanuts" era. While travel will always have its hassles, CO people for the most part really do make the extra effort.

I agree with DGolds. I live in a USAir hub, and go out of my way to fly CO whenever possible. They stand head and shoulders above the other domestics because of their approach to consistent customer service. I give them the bulk of my 150K+ flight miles per year...

I totally agree. I was recently "comped" up to Premier Ex on UA (as a Platinum CO) and after reading and speaking with a lot of UA FF's was now wondering why I bothered. There doesn't seem to be any advantage to being an elite member on UA. You have to use miles, or coupons to upgrade and they don't seem to treat their passengers well (as per this thread). If there only benefit is better food-- I can pick up a gourmet meal at a take out before I board CO!
