Is this for real? What's the catch?

Got an offer in the mail - 5,000 miles for joining MCI, and 5,000 miles per month for the next 4 months = 25,000 miles, good for 1 round trip coach class ticket. And I can cancel right after that and use the ticket? I smell something funny...

DB - Yes, it is for real. There have been numerous postings not only in this thread, but in "The Buzz" as well regarding this. Check them out.

If you read the threads, however, you'll find that its not necessarily "for real." MCI compounds the problem of overworked, undertrained, underpaid customer service reps by instituting complicated reward plans with hidden rules that only get revealed after 18 phone calls.

I have two phone lines. On one, the 25k program (last year) worked fine. On the second, I'm still waiting after 2 months. SWITCH AT YOUR OWN RISK!
