Do you get EUA's on Copa

I will be travelling to EZE in March and was planning on taking Copa there via PTY. I can fly out of either JFK or EWR.

I am currently a Gold Elite.

Question to you all: If I buy a coach ticket through copaair.com, will I get an EUA or do I have to use miles etal to get upgraded.

I saw one post on this issue where the guy bought a full Y fare and got upgraded. My question is slightly different. If I buy any old fare, can I get upgraded solely on Status.

Thanks!

Maybe...

I can't say for sure, but I think so. The front cabin is usually full between between Santiago and PTY, even though the day before the flight, it might show half or a third of the few seats available. I travel in front courtesy of my company, so I don't have direct experience...

Complimentary upgrades are just one of many exclusive benefits reserved for Elite members -- our most valued customers.
These OnePass Elite upgrades are valid on flights operated by the following airlines:
Continental Airlines
Continental Micronesia
Northwest Airlines
Copa Airlines

As a platinum, I usually am upgraded on this route on a non-Y ticket. The only exceptions have been during the Carnival weekend before Ash Wednesday when the flight was full of people flying full fare to Panama for Carnival. EUA is sometimes a bit hit and miss sometimes COPA has trouble recognizing a CO One Pass number, but this problem seems to have improved of late.

And remember that if you buy a full Y, you can confirm Biz Class in advance for a CO Elite. If going NYC-EZE, this can be a nice "cheap" way to fly Biz to South America. Although the seats are not true Intl Biz quality, they are better than Y and the service is good.

Yup, this is exactly what I'm doing later this month. Full Y at $1200 from JFK, with upgrades cleared on 3/4 segments at the time of ticketing. Coach fares on AA, UA and DL, none of which offered the possibility of flying up front, were all more expensive.

I did have some trouble getting upgraded when I booked. The elite desk agent I spoke with insisted that no EUA was possible on any int'l flights, even those without a BF cabin. I quoted the policy from co.com to her, and after putting me on hold for a while, she finally agreed and processed the upgrade.

Can you send me the like to this on CO.com? I may need this the future? Specifically, where does it say that full-Y means immeadiate upgrade? Thanks!

Apparently, Copa's "Full Y "upgrades come out of their Z class not their C class, which really SUCKS.
but, oh well.
