Intl. Upgrades

I did a search and couldn't find the answer, so if someone could post a link I'd be grateful.

NWA allows upgrades from Full Fare economy (Y or YEERT) into Z class (which typically has some availability) whereas std upgrades come from NWA's I class.

Does Continental have a more liberal upgrade class open up if you buy a Full fare ticket too?

Not in any stretch of the imaginations - this is one of the largest complaints of OnePass members. Beyond the Carribean and Mexico, CO's international upgrades policy stinks. Granted there is the occassional fluke, but typically an international upgrade is about $400 plus miles.

Hey, Continental does give NonePass mileage upgrades on full Y fares with no extra service charge!

No service charge, but IIRC, a OP rep once told me that they come out of the same bucket as every other mileage upgrade. That lack of availability sent me to another airline on an Int'l once.

You need to do search for what we call "HoKeY" which will explain how you pay extra now for a high fare bucket only to find you end up in coach.

Unless you puchase your ticket well in advance you will probably not clear the wait list. But you should try because you never know if one of those wounderful BF seats could be yours.
