I am sitting here at the LAX PC....

watching the planes take off before my flight. Its amazing how the MD-11's literally are twice as noisy as any other plane. I don't think I have ever flown an MD-11, does anyone know what the noise in the cabin is like?

He's at the Continental Prez Club, and CO used to fly lots of DC-10's which aren't much different from MD-11's

I guess I see the connection now, especially the MD-11/DC-10 point you've made...

Speaking of which, for those who have been to both the CO PC and the NW WC, which one is better? I've always wondered...

The PC's used to be so much better than the WC's but the WC's look really good....especially the flagship at DTW. Too bad they don't keep James Page on hand anymore....not that there's anything wrong with Heineken.

If you are specifically referring to clubs at LAX - my opinion - they are about equivalent. The LAX CO PC is a little larger, but the views are better at the LAX NW WC since it is on the second floor (different terminal) and I prefer the self-serve bar and beverages in the NW WC. The coffee/tea is self-serve at the CO PC but the bar/soft beverages have a bartender.

Both the CO and NW LAX lounges have restrooms, but neither have showers.

The attendents at both are very nice and helpful. I also find the counter and gate agents for both CO and NW at LAX to be exceptional nice as well - much better than some other airports I could mention.

I am back in NYC, flight was 100% full but I had emergency exit aisle so I was comfortable. Not one Platinum was upgraded.

And I started this thread bored to tears watching planes take off at LAX. Sorry if it was off topic

So they sold all the FC seats? I can't recall hearing of a flight that *no* Plats go upgraded on.

It happens. I was on a SFO-EWR red eye a few weeks ago that was A0 for more than a week. I was first on the standby list and made the trip in coach.

To answer the OP's question: in the past I frequently flew the MD11 on KL's SFO AMS route. I didn't find it loud at all, especially in comparison to the 777. IMO, 777 is much, much louder, particularly on takeoff.

I love the LAX Presidents Club. Even when my US Airways Club membership got me into the Red Carpet Clubs without any extortionate fee, I would still use the PC.

i wonder if we're all referring to the same lax pc. last time i was there (april), there was no wireless internet, it was filled with children (not that i can really talk, being 23), it seemed quite dark, with low ceilings, the bartender was impossible to find, and the agents insisted on checking my info every single time i came/went (i had a really long layover - about 6 hours). i've seen *much* better.

In general, I'll take the PC. It's always bothered me that all drinks are self-serve in the WC. It's not a big deal, but certainly affects the "class" of the place.
