codeshare upgrade?

I'm a silver on EWR to LHR this weekend on a codeshare Virgin flight. Anybody know if I have any chance of getting upgraded, even to VA's premium economy? A phone rep told me my best option is to inquire of the agent at the VA desk when I check-in. I'm looking for some pointers if you'd care to share.

Do not expect especially good treatment from VS. There used to be a CO rep at the VS check-in, but I do not think that is the case anymore. With a CO rep you might get an operational upgrade, but as I said I do not think they have CO reps anymore.

Last time I checked in they made me wait on the economy check-in line. No special privileges. In particular, watch out for some of the strictest carry-on rules in the air, especially on the LHR side of the pond.

Anyway, internationally, I do not think CO has ever upgraded me either, which is one of my biggest complaints with CO.
