Fare Classes

I'm still waiting for my first EUA, which I don't think will come anytime soon, but I attempted to use the Availability Tool that was posted in another thread on FT.

I understand what a bunch of the fare classes are thanks to this forum and www.nonepass.com, but I am definitely confused about a few.

Can someone shed some light on a couple of these fares that were not listed on NonePass...

Z, N, I, S, W, X, L

and U was stated as Easypass BusinessFirst, but I'm not really sure what this means. It states that there are "U4" available, which I believe means that there are 4 seats in class U available. If class U is first class, why wouldn't it give me an EUA on my flight tomorrow when I checked in a few minutes ago?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I think that Z = discounted BusinessFirst, like the $1,500 fares to Europe that CO had this summer.

Unfortunately, there really is just no way to predict where/when/how the EUAs clear. There is no guarantee that it will happen, either. Maybe it is easier to predict if you are platinum, but as a silver and now as a gold, I just wait at the gate (or in my seat!) and try not to hold my breath. It is all "based on availability," fare class paid, who is more important on the wait list (AKA higher elite status), time of check-in, etc...

With any luck, the gate agent will call you up, or if you are checking bags, sometimes you've already cleared by then. Hopefully luck will be on your side!

Here are some examples to illustrate the other fare classes and generally how they rank in cost:

CO EWR-CDG
=====================
321.00 WL1USE
381.00 IL2USE
421.00 IK1USE
441.00 UL3USE
501.00 UK2USE
581.00 BKX46SE
581.00 BK3USE
641.00 BKW46SE
761.00 UH1USE
861.00 BH2USE
961.00 NH3USE
1121.00 K4USE
1161.00 KH4USE
1421.00 H5USE
1461.00 HH5USE
1871.00 HEE4E
1991.00 ZR79SE
2091.00 ZHR72SE

CO IAH-SAT
=====================
103.00 XR141ZN
133.00 WR141ZN
149.00 WR71ZN
177.00 IR71XZN
191.00 UL
271.00 Y1
311.00 D1

Of the fares you mentioned, Z is a non-refundable first/biz class fare. All the other codes are for coach cabin, and their rank ordering can vary (some N fares are higher than B fares while others are lower). If the fare ends with an N, then it is most likely non-refundable. Be sure to check the full fare rules if refundability matters to you because the fare code by itself does not tell the whole story. In terms of the EUA tie breaker on a domestic flight you simply have to check how the price corresponding to your fare basis stands up against the other available coach fares possibly sold on your plane.
